A Little Bit About Cariuma Shoes
Cariuma shoes are a unisex footwear brand well-known for their high-quality, trendy sneakers. Each sneaker is created with the idea of sustainability, comfort, and timeliness in mind. The brand offers five distinct styles: OCA low, OCA high, Catiba Pro, IBI, and IBI slip-ons.
Cariuma shoes do not just create the sneakers in a sustainable manner; the brand has made it their mission to disrupt today’s wasteful habits. Some of their amazing efforts include a replanting program in Brazil’s rainforests that began in June 2020. Cariuma has taken on the responsibility of replacing the forest floor two trees at a time, it accomplishes this by planting a pair of trees for every pair of sneakers sold; by the end of September 2020, they had already planted 200,000 trees, which is rather amazing.
This Cariuma shoes review will look at not only if the shoe brand achieves its goals, but also what factors contribute to Cariuma’s popularity.
What Are Cariuma Shoes Made From?
Cariuma makes a wide assortment of sneakers with a green conscience. Impressively the brand, we discovered, empowers conscious customers to buy quality over quantity. Cariuma’s initial objective is to provide environmentally friendly products. As a result, premium raw materials are used in the creation of shoes to produce a smaller footprint, such as:
- Bamboo – for its rapid regrowth, and minimal waste.
- Rubber: The removable of a milky sap from trees to produce natural rubber.
- Organic Cotton: Cariuma uses organic Global Organic Textile Standard certified cotton.
- Sugarcane: Sourced from Brazil, the sugarcane relies on rainwater to thrive. Fully renewable and naturally removes carbon from the atmosphere.
- Cork – Another natural and sustainable material. The brand scrape cork, from the cork tree, so the tree remains in tack, and new cork can grow.
- Mamona Oil: Mamona is an organic alternative to petroleum. The use of Mamona decreases the use of virgin plastics and increases the natural content of Cariuma shoes.
- Recycled PET: Recycled plastic bottle are the main component of the vast majority of Cariuma upper laces, labels, and threads.
- Leather and Suede: 100% of the water used to produce leather is recycled and reused.
- Recycled and Recyclable Packaging Paper – The shoe box doubles up as the shipping box, reducing the amount of packaging used; the company also uses 100% recycled paper to cushion your new sneakers.
- Dye Chemicals: Bluesign-certified chemicals are used to dye products.

Are Cariuma Sneakers Vegan?
The Cariuma IBI is entirely green. As a vegan sneaker, the IBI features plants and recycled plastics from heel to toe.

Cariuma encourages ethical employment standards, such as fair working hours and salaries, as well as work-life balance at their factories, in accordance with International Labor Organization (ILO) norms.

Cariuma Catiba Pro Review

Cariuma specifically created these skate shoes for skaters and to protect our planet. The Cariuma CATIBA Pro series is robust, offers mobility, and provides the finest grip available. Additionally, the team at Cariuma handcraft the CATIBA Pro from fine suede and organic cotton, with a vulcanized natural rubber sole.
Each pair comes with a cork, memory foam, and mamona oil insole, which provides the same level of comfort as a well-worn shoe in a brand-new pair of sneakers. Furthermore they come with a board feel, traction, comfort, ankle stability, in addition to a reinforced flick point.
Cariuma Catiba Pro

If you want a shoe with optimal durability, mobility, and grip in mind the Catiba Pro is for you. It has a strengthened flick point for improved board feel, traction, ultimate comfort, and ankle stability. The sticky grip outsole features raw natural gum rubber in a traditional herringbone pattern, which allows the shoe to move with you while staying secure. Its foxing has stronger diagonal stripes carved into the outsole, which improves the traction and flick of the channel.
The Cariuma CATIBA Pro also has a triple-stitch top at the flick point, which extends the shoe’s lifespan and overall toughness. Cariuma CATIBA Pro Sneakers Customer Review Analysis

What do buyers say? Cariuma consumers rated the Cariuma Catiba Pro Sneakers 4.93 out of 5 stars.
Customers considered the Carima Catiba Pros to be outstanding, as they did many other Cariuma sneakers. Not only did consumers share they received many compliments for the shoes, but they also shared many positive reviews on the support they provide, how they are ready to go straight out of the box, and how the soles protect your feet from heavy impacts.
I’ve tested probably hundreds of skate shoes, and these are definitely in my top three. Durable, light, good board feel, grippy, protective enough without being too bulky, and breathable. I’ve been skating them for about 2 weeks now, and the laces are not ripped. The kickflip area is worn down a bit in the kickflip area (just the foxing area), and the toe-cap shows barely any sign of wear. It’s an all-around great feeling shoe that breaks in easily and skates well. I would say if you like vans for skating (which I do), your feet will feel right at home with these, with the added benefit of being a lot more durable. Thanks, Cariuma, for a great product for skaters!

Cariuma CATIBA Pro Highs

The high-top edition of the CATIBAs is essentially identical to the low-top version. The biggest difference is the added ankle support. Cariuma CATIBA Pro Highs are $119.

Cariuma Company Information
This impressive sneaker start-up has grown from strength to strength since its founding in 2018 by cofounders David Python and Fernando Porto. Before founding Cariuma, the Cofounders worked together in their native Brazil and decided that the sneaker market needed to be shaken up because of their shared passion for boardsports. Cariuma shoes were born as a result. The founders agree that it is their responsibility to design sneakers that are attractive, comfortable, and produced in a sustainable manner.

Do GN Guide Recommend Cariuma Shoes?
To conclude, how can we not recommend Cariuma! Not only does this company produce comfortable, casual, and fantastic-looking sneakers, they are also doing their bit to save the planet.
Unquestionably any brand that donates two trees for every pair of shoes they sell is a winner in our books. Additionally, since starting our Cariuma Shoes review, we’ve also found out the company contributes any gently worn and returned sneakers to soles4souls, which is a nonprofit organization helping those in need.
Hats off to these guys, and we’re looking forward to reporting on new designs and initiatives in the future.
